Election 2010

Election Day is Monday, October 18, 2010

Municipal elections are held every three years on the third Monday in October.  Other important dates are:

  • Nomination Day - Monday, September 20, 2010

The local municipal government elections are held under the authority of the Local Authorities Election Act.  The Act stipulates who may be appointed to conduct the election, how nominations shall be made, who may vote, and how the voting takes place.

Election Information packages can be picked up at City Hall.  Public School Trustee packages can be picked up at City Hall or at the Lethbridge School District Education Centre - 433 15 Street South Lethbridge.

 Crossings Branch Library Opening Fall 2010

A new Public Library is coming to West Lethbridge along with the West Campus of Catholic Central High School and the new Chinook High School. The Library is situated between the two schools and will provide a multitude of amenities to students and the general public. The Crossings Branch will offer:

ü  Comfortable meeting spaces which will include the Kinsmen Fireplace reading area and many study nooks

ü  A brand new collection of books, CDs, DVDs and eResources

ü   A  well stocked newspaper and magazine area

ü   Youth and adult programs

ü  Gaming -  play one of many video games in the Melcor Gaming Space.

The Library’s goal is to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere to relax and converse in an environment conducive to learning and personal growth.

Lethbridge School District #51 has developed an initiative for a High School Completion Recovery Program. It was developed with reference and attention to Alberta Education’s High School completion Strategy Framework, Fall 2009.

 The ultimate goal of this initiative is to provide former high school students, who did not graduate, an opportunity to complete their high school education and receive an Alberta High School Diploma.
