Lethbridge School District No. 51 Wins International Award for Budget Excellence

For the fourth consecutive year Lethbridge School District No. 51 has received the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in the preparation and issuance of its 2009-2010 annual budget. The award reflects the commitment of the Board and staff to achieving the highest standards of school budgeting.

Lethbridge School District has a long standing practice of developing its annual budget through an open and transparent process, involving district staff and community stakeholders. Director of Finance, Ms. Christine Lee has been instrumental in coordinating the process, and creating a budget document that is thorough and ‘reader friendly.’

The Meritorious Budget Awards Program was designed by ASBO International and school business management professionals to enable school business administration to achieve excellence in budget presentation.  The program helps school systems build a solid foundation in the skills of developing, analyzing, and presenting a budget.  The program is sponsored by ING.

Ms. Lee attended the Lethbridge School District Board meeting on October 13, 2009 to be acknowledged for her contributions to this award.
