LCI Administration Announcements

Lethbridge School District No. 51 announces the appointment of Deb Yanota as Acting Principal and Rod Scott as Acting Assistant Principal for Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. The appointments are in effect until such time as principal Don Groft is able to return to his position.

Deb Yanota has served as an Assistant Principal at LCI since 2002. She began her education career with one year of teaching in Fort McMurray and then worked as a teacher, Department Head and Vice Principal for the Medicine Hat Public School District at Crescent Heights High School and Medicine Hat High School before joining Lethbridge School District in 2002.

Ms.Yanota earned her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees at the University of Lethbridge. On two separate occasions she has been a Faculty Associate for the U of L, teaching the Education 2500 course and supervising PS I and PS II students.

Ms. Yanota’s understanding of, and commitment to all programs at LCI combined with the respect she has earned from students, staff and parents will enable her to provide leadership for the school during the time that Mr. Groft is away.

Rod Scott earned his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge and has been on staff at LCI since 2002, teaching mainly in the area of Career and Technology Studies (CTS). He has also taught in the areas of Social Studies, Career and Life Management (CALM) and Math.  Mr. Scott has been the CTS Curriculum Leader for three years, the Teacher Logic Administrator, Moodle Administrator, the LCI Webmaster and is one of three Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) lead teachers at LCI, a role he will continue in his new position. 

Mr. Scott has been involved in the Wrestling program as well as serving on the local ATA Executive as an LCI representative. His relationships with students and staff plus his knowledge of the broad range of curricular and co-curricular programs at LCI will serve him well as he moves into his new position.
