Lethbridge School District Administration Appointments
Barry Litun, Superintendent of Lethbridge School District, is please to announce two administration appointments for the 2010/11 school year.
Cynthia Parr has been appointed as Director of Student Services. Ms. Parr has been the Acting Director for Student Services since September, 2008. Previous administrative experiences include six years as principal of Galbraith School and serving as an assistant principal at Dr. Probe & Westminster Schools.
Ms. Parr has extensive special education teaching experience, and has taught at all grade levels. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees (Focus: Leadership in Special Education) from the University of Lethbridge. Ms. Parr has been part of a number of district leadership initiatives, including the Instructional Budget, English as a Second Language & Special Education Review Committees. In her current role, Ms. Parr is chairing the Community Complex Case Committee, and represents Lethbridge in provincial, cross-ministry meetings as the chair. She has been very involved as the District representative in Alberta Education’s ‘Setting the Direction’ initiative.
In addition to her teaching and administrative strengths, Ms. Parr‘s strong background and understanding of Special Education policies and regulations are assets that she brings to the position. She is known for her commitment to ensuring appropriate programs and supports are in place for students who may be least advantaged.
Brenda Stendebach has been appointed principal for Nicholas Sheran Community School where she is currently serving as Acting Principal. Prior to this year Ms. Stendebach was the Assistant Principal at Nicholas Sheran, a position she held since 2007. Ms. Stendebach’s other administrative experiences with the District include a secondment as District Administrator for two years and as the Assistant Principal for Galbraith School.
Prior to entering administration, Ms. Stendebach taught at Ecole Agnes Davidson School with the exception of the year she was seconded by the University of Lethbridge. Ms. Stendebach has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and then earned her Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees from the University of Lethbridge.
Ms. Stendebach’s interpersonal, communication and leadership skills combined with her enthusiasm and commitment to meeting the needs of all students will serve her well as Principal for Nicholas Sheran Community School.
